چکیده
A 44-year-old man presented with an enlarged painful lower anterior neck lump elevated serum concentrations of free thyroxine (T4) and tri-iodothyronine (T3), alongside the presence antithyroid peroxidase antibodies. Prior to presentation, patient was demonstrating recovery from a SARS-CoV-2 infection that required sedation, intubation, invasive ventilation in intensive care unit (ICU) for 11 days. Ultrasound examination thyroid demonstrated features De Quervain’s (subacute) thyroiditis. This corresponded clinical picture, continuous function tests were arranged. Emerging evidence throughout pandemic describes long-term sequelae infection, including developing atypical effects on gland. case report emphasises association subacute thyroiditis post-viral its manifestation during severe SARS-CoV-2, suggesting follow-up testing should be considered patients discharged ICU who develop discomfort.

متن کاملA Case Report of a Second-Trimester Stillbirth in a Pregnant Woman with SARS-CoV-2 Infection
The most important risk factors for fetal health in humans are maternal infections, that the majority of which are caused by viral agents. Viruses are one of the most contagious infectious agents that can cause many complex and irreversible complications, including; growth disorders, calcification, microcephaly, and fetal death. Recently, with the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2),...
متن کاملThe Comparison of Susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 Infection between Pediatric and Adults
SARS-CoV-2 causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and is responsible for the recent pandemic in the world. It has been recently recognized as a challenge for public health and a significant cause of severe illness in all age groups. Young children and older people are susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection. However, children usually present mild symptoms compared to adult patients. The relatio...
متن کاملCase report: Long-term cognitive sequelae of sarin exposure.
The long-term sequelae of acute sarin exposure are not well understood. The largest clinical cohort resulted from the 1994 and 1995 attacks in Japan. Observers noted mostly psychiatric sequelae, with a high prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We describe neurocognitive findings that may represent sequelae of low-level sarin exposure in Iraq.
متن کاملWhole-inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccines: from fear to hope
Undoubtedly, vaccination can be one of the promising approaches to control infectious diseases such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Inactivated viral vaccines have a history of "vaccine-induced enhanced disease", which may occur when neutralizing antibodies bind to viral antigens without blocking or clearing the infection. This can cause additional inflammation through the mechanisms described for ot...
